School Meals

Lunchtime

At St Thomas’, we have our own in-house catering facilities and are able to offer a really great menu and lunchtime experience which we are sure your child will enjoy. Each day there is a tasty selection of freshly prepared hot meals or, if your child prefers, there will be a salad or sandwich / roll option too and a selection of desserts, with fresh fruit always available. Special diets can always be accommodated.

Children in Reception, Year 1 and Year 2 are entitled to a lunch free of charge under the Government’s Universal Infant Free School Meals.

The cost of a school meal for all other year groups is currently £2.10 (charges are reviewed annually) and this includes a main course, dessert and drink.

Families on a low income and receiving certain benefits may be entitled to receive Free School Meals. Check out your eligibility via the link below.

The school has a whole school food policy and children are allowed to consume only ‘healthy’ snacks at the mid-morning break. This can be either fruit (fresh or dried) or a yogurt bought from home.

Alternatively, the following can be ordered daily from our kitchen:-

Crumpet

Scotch Pancake

25p

Toast (slice)

20p

Toasted Teacake (½)

25p

Yogurt

30p

Milk (carton of semi skimmed)

20p (Free to under 5’s)

In addition, a piece of fresh fruit is provided daily without charge for all children in Key Stage 1 and we encourage the children to eat this.

Drinking water is available at all times and children should bring in their own refillable water bottle (clearly labelled with their name) for use throughout the day.
